Peter Kindlmann

Peter Kindlmann retired in 2012 from the Electrical Engineering department, where he was a faculty member since its inception in 1980, and before that from 1966-1980 in the Department of Engineering & Applied Science that encompassed all of Yale Engineering from 1960 to 1980. As Professor Adjunct of Electrical Engineering since 1979, he was always distinct from the research-centric faculty in that he functioned as a bridge between the “real world” of engineering and the engineering teaching at Yale, in teaching design- and project-oriented courses, and even as Director of Undergraduate Studies for 4-1/2 years. Think of him as akin to a practicing architect who teaches architecture - a very normal state of affairs in professional schools, but very rare in Yale’s Department of Electrical Engineering.
